We had a fun first meet against GILLS last night. Almost all of our swimmers had lifetime best swims and a lot of swimmers tried new events. The swimmers of the meet are: Beatriz, Jesse, Gali, and Carlos. Beatriz is a high school swimmer who swam two best swims in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. It is unusual for an experienced swimmer to swim so well at a first meet of the season, and we're all very excited to see where this season takes her! Jesse dropped 5 seconds on his 100 IM while swimming alone! It is hard to drop time in swimming as it is, yet alone with no competition. Jesse also dropped 11 seconds on his 50 butterfly! He has been working very hard this season on his technique and his dedication is paying off already. Gali, our 8 year old, dropped 4 seconds to win the 50 free in her age group (she only took 1 breath on the first lap). She also won the 25 back by 3 seconds and kept up with some older girls when her relay was combined into the 18 and under relay. Carlos has made so much progress this season already. He swam his first ever 100 IM, closed the gap in his free relay, and swam his best ever 50 free with good technique. These 4 swimmers of the meet are examples of the benefits of hard work!
We've added a few extra Tuesday evening practices in June to prepare for all of our Wednesday meets. Please check the team calendar page for updates.
This is our 4th partnership with Chipotle.
Come have dinner with your family at the Chipotle in Crestwood between 5pm and 9pm, and 50% of your order will go to our team to purchase new equipment for our swimmers. Please invite friends and family. Don't forget to show your cashier the flyer! Swimmers of the Meet for our Red and White scrimmage meet are Daniela, Jaden, Brooke, and Ally. Daniela was a great help with the newer swimmers today, helping them read the lineup sheets and getting them to their events on time. Jaden joined the team two days ago and was ready to take on, and race, both the 25 free and 25 back like a champ. Brooke asked good questions and worked to make sure she was always in the right lane. She also pushed herself very hard and had great first races! Ally is another newcomer to the team, and she deserves swimmer of the meet because she conquered the 100IM (the toughest race) at her first meet! Awesome job, Sea Demons!
