This was our first meet away from home and our team couldn’t have made us prouder. It’s clear that they have been too comfortable at home because most of the swimmers dropped significant amounts of time. I do not have the results yet, but we swam against two other teams: Mannheim and the Tigersharks. We definitely held our own taking many first place spots. It was especially hard to pick 4 swimmers, partly because we only had 13 swimmers attend, and partly because they all did so good. In the end, these are the 4 swimmers who took the spotlight.
Aaliyah Hooks- Aaliyah was phenomenal and dropped 7 seconds on her freestyle as well as dropping 1.5 seconds on her breaststroke. She really took to heart some coaching that said to swim hard into the wall. Andrea Medina- Andrea is a beast. She has been working tirelessly leading her lane in practice and it really showed through at the meet. Andrea took first place in her freestyle event. The other swimmers didn’t stand a chance. Jordan Steen- Jordan was a powerhouse of performance. He not only took first place in the breaststroke, but he also dropped 7 seconds. As if that wasn’t enough, he also dropped 5 seconds off his butterfly. Charles Stewart- Charles never fails to wow us with his first place victories. Tonight was definitely no different. He took first in his events, but that wasn’t why he was chosen. Charles was chosen because he set the tone for the 200 freestyle relay so well that his team had nearly an entire lap lead in the race. It was absolutely amazing to watch. |
