![]() "It feels good," said Noah S. after being named swimmer of the meet at last week's meet versus Oak Forest Swim Association, "I've never been Swimmer of the Meet before." Although he got disqualified in the 50 fly, Noah, 9, showed excellent breathing in his freestyle events at the meet and finished the last 10 yards of his fly beautifully. Noah has shown tremendous progress this season, particularly in the last few weeks! Daniela and Alex, both 12, also earned the title because they swam lifetime bests in their events and raced very hard. Daniela dropped almost 2 seconds on her 100IM, winning a close second, and Alex dropped less than a second on his 50 free, winning first in that event by almost 10 seconds! Clare, 18, has been a constant helper to the coaches at the meet, helping round up the little kids and always acting as a role model. On top of that, she is always willing to swim any event we throw her in, and consistently demonstrates a positive attitude. It is clear that all four Swimmers of the Meet help make the team what it is. We are proud of our swimmers' successes, attitudes, and improvements across the board!

Although we had a lot of amazing races and wins at our meet against Chicago South, the Swimmers of the Meet all earned their titles because of all of their noticeable improvements in technique and times.
Miguel swam his butt off today in the 100 free and 100 back, and had a faster stroke rate, better breathing, and better flip turns than he's ever done! And it showed: he dropped about 15 seconds on the 100 free and 31 seconds on the 100 back! Miguel's sister Miriam did flip turns in a meet for the first time and that helped her drop 11 seconds on the 100 free and 5 seconds on the 100 back! Mateo really picked it up this meet, and swam faster than we've ever seen! His arms were moving and his flip turns were solid. He dropped a crazy 14 seconds in his 50 free and 5 seconds from his previous best 50 back, with a total of 23 seconds dropped from his first meet. Monica showed us all how hard she is willing to work, by keeping her head down while swimming and muscling through her first 50 fly! She also dropped 20 seconds from her previous 50 back time. Awesome job, everyone! |
