Wednesday, July 12. PARTY to celebrate the end of Season! 6:30PM at Alsip Pool! Details at pool. Our meet this Monday was a success; we beat Bradley Bourbonnais by 3 points! There were a lot of very close races and strong swims from most swimmers. Swimmers of the meet are: Madelaine, Hailey, Chiquita, and Chris.
Madelaine has been working very hard in practice, and her performance on Monday proved that. She dropped 8 seconds on on her 50 freestyle and 13 seconds in her 25 butterfly! Hailey dropped 11 seconds in her 50 freestyle and 3 seconds in her 25 backstroke. Both of them have great attitudes in both meets and practices! Chiquita dropped 24 seconds in his 100 free, and dropped 1 second in his 50 fly, narrowly out-touching his competition for first place! Chris dropped 7 seconds in his 100 free and 17 seconds in his 200IM! Both of these boys have been working incredibly hard in practice and we are so proud of them. Our final meet of the season is next Wednesday at Reavis High School. Please sign up by Monday. Our meet last night against CSSC was very successful. Over 90% of swimmers swam lifetime best times in at least one event, and many swimmers tried new events! Although there were many great swims across the board, swimmers of the meet are: Ally, DJ, Juan, and Giselle.
Ally had a great race in her 50 free, dropping 3 seconds and placing a close second behind a CSSC swimmer. She also dropped 2 seconds on her 50 breast! Ally was essential to all of the relays she swam for, and was the anchor of the first place 12 and under 200 free relay. As always, Ally was positive, showed strong sportsmanship, and was a great teammate. DJ did not swim best times in his individual events, but his technique was the best we've ever seen and he raced really well in his 50 free and 50 back. He placed second in his 50 free, and first in his 50 back. DJ's attitude at the meet was incredible; he was always cheering for teammates and was very positive. In the first place 12 and under 200 free relay, he did swim his best 50 free time, and was absolutely critical to the success of that relay! Juan has been training up two levels in practice, and it is really paying off. He dropped 4 seconds on his 50 free and managed to swim a 50 butterfly for the first time in his life! We are so proud of the progress he has been making and we love his willingness to challenge himself and never complain. Giselle has been working very hard in practice to become one of the strongest new swimmers on the team. Her hard work paid off last night when she dropped 13 seconds in her 50 free! It is very difficult to drop that much time on such a short race. Giselle also tried the 50 fly for the first time last night, was always ready for her races, and showed good sportsmanship after each of her swims. We, as always, are very proud of our swimmers and are excited to swim against BBSC next Monday! |
