Monday, May 20: our annual Chipotle fundraiser. We want to see everyone come eat at the Chipotle in Crestwood for dinner -- show the cashier your flier, and a portion of your meal will support the team.

Tuesday, May 21: mandatory parent meeting at 6pm. Every swimmer has practice at 6 on Tuesday, so please come inside with them for a parent meeting.

Our meet against Oak Lawn on Thursday was super fun, with a ton of close races and great relays. Swimmers of the Meet are: Hanna, Anastasia, Jordan, and Christopher.

Hannah swam outstanding in her backstroke and butterfly, dropping time again in the 100 fly. Hannah has been proving to be a tough, resilient swimmer who will rise to any challenge! Anastasia was a powerhouse in her medley relay, swimming the best breaststroke we've ever seen from her. After that, she dropped a crazy 26 seconds on her 200 IM! 

Jordan earned the title for this meet because how he stepped up in his relays. His backstroke and free were fast and fun to watch! Christopher, one of our newest swimmers, dropped time in both of his events because of his focus and desire to improve in practice!

Thank you to all swimmers and parents for being so flexible when we had to change locations of the meet and wait for lifeguard training to finish! You helped make everything run smoothly!

Swimmers of the meet are: Isabel, Genevieve, Eduardo, and Sha'Man.

It is tough to start swimming competitively for a club team as a teenager, but Isabel is doing just that and doing it well! Her first attempt at a 100 freestyle was under 2:00 and she immediately asked what she could do to be even faster. We predict big things for Isabel! Gen is immensely deserving of this title because of how hard she raced at the meet. She was incredibly beneficial in her relays and won her 100 breaststroke after coming up from behind and out-touching her competition in the last lap!

Eduardo, our youngest swimmer, never ever stopped cheering for his teammates, truly embodying what it means to be a Sea Demon! He also won his 25 freestyle by about 10 seconds! Sha'Man always works hard in practice and it is paying off in meets -- he looked smooth and controlled in the water and dropped time in both of his events! 

 

Our annual Red and White meet resulted in a Red team victory! We were impressed with how the returners raced each other and how the new swimmers performed in their first meet. We were, of course, even more proud of our athletes for showing sportsmanship for their own team and their competition.

Swimmers of the Meet for the Red and White meet are: Aldo, Colin, Diamond, and Deenah.
Aldo probably showed the most sportsmanship for the White team; he was consistently cheering and yelling for his teammates! He also won his 50 freestyle by one second and is looking very long and smooth in the water. He's come a long way since joining the team! This was Colin's first meet ever and he swam so hard and so well for his first competitive attempt! His goggles fell into his mouth, but he pushed through and proved he could compete and race!

Diamond also showed exceptional sportsmanship throughout the meet, cheering for her teammates at the shallow end, especially for our 8-and-unders during their events. In the pool, she also swam well, dropping 5 seconds in her 50 breaststroke!  Deenah likewise was tremendously sportsmanlike, remembering to shake hands after every race and pushing herself in some close and challenging races!
