Our first official meet of the season is complete and on the books! The Sea Demons not only swam amazing races, but also had cheering that could be heard throughout the entire school! We also want to give a huge shout out to the swimmers for being flexible with the meet's delayed start. Our team were awesome listeners and helped the coaches make sure everyone was where they needed to be. Just as in the Red and White meet, we have four swimmers that stood out to the coaches for things such as their sportsmanship, swimming performances, personal improvement, and/or team spirit. Swimmers of the meet are: Josh, Eddie, Arrow, and Ava.
First up we have Josh. Josh not only swam his first dual meet of the season with ease but he also was a cheering machine! Josh was always at the other end of the pool cheering on his team and getting the crowd to join in as well! Eddie is our next swimmer of the meet. Eddie swam his first dual meet with EASC and totally rocked it! He started his 100 backstroke behind, but Eddie was able to use the technique we have worked on in practice, kicking it into high gear which allowed him to get second in the event. Arylyn (Arrow) is an 11 year old who has been swimming with us for two seasons and was able to show her dedication to herself and the team this past meet. Arrow jumped in to swim her 100 backstroke and after the first 50 got a terrible leg cramp. She was in so much pain she yelled to the coaches that she couldn't finish but with support of her team and the confidence in herself she finished her swim! Finally, we have Ava who is 6 years old. She did not let her age slow her down. When our 9/10 relay needed someone to join the lineup, Ava was ready and willing to step in. She not only swam her heart out but also swam 50 yards as opposed to her usual 25!
