After our win last night against Oak Forest, most of our swimmers could have qualified for Swimmers of the Meet! Most dropped times, many swam events for the first time, and everyone raced very well. However, our swimmers of the meet go to the following swimmers: Olivia, Chiquita, Jadyn, Cynthia, and Axel.
Olivia has been having a great season so far. Last night, she swam (and won) the 100 breast stroke in the 13-14 age group. Olivia is 9. Immediately following that, she swam the 100 IM and still managed to drop a second off of her previous best time! Chiquita also swam the 100 IM, but his goggles slid down to the middle of his face. Despite this, he still managed to drop 4 seconds off of his previous best time, showing that it is possible to push through tough situations and still succeed! Similarly, Jadyn didn't start off the meet too well. She was disqualified in her breaststroke, but she also managed to come back from that in her 50 backstroke. In that event, she was seeded to place fourth, but ended up dropping 9 seconds and winning the event! Cynthia is the epitome of hard work. She always pushes herself in practice, and it is paying off in the meets. She dropped 1 second off of her 100 freestyle and 7 seconds off of her 100 fly! Axel also has shown tremendous improvements since joining the team this season. He has great team spirit and always cheers for his teammates. His butterfly in the medley relay looked really great and he managed to drop 2 seconds off of his 100 butterfly as well.
We are so proud of this team and how well they are doing this season! Let's keep this momentum through conference!
