Last night's meet saw many improvements from our previous week's meet. Our starts and turns were better, our relays were tighter, and more swimmers dropped time and won races. Because of this awesomeness, it was hard to pick swimmers of the meet, Our swimmers of the meet for last night were all girls - Daniela, Camila, Ashley, and Laura.
Sisters Daniela and Camila both had great meets at Tinley, especially considering that they used to swim for Tinley! Daniela dropped 7 seconds on her 100 free, winning the race by 15 seconds. She also dropped 12 and a half seconds on her 200 IM, winning the race by 17 seconds overall! Camila was a loud cheerer at the meet, and raced very hard. She closed the gap and had a great flip turn in the final 200free relay, despite her goggles falling off. Laura and Ashley are examples of what hard work can accomplish. Laura raced her first ever 100 backstroke, and was able to out touch her competition for 3rd place right at the end of the race. Her first 100 freestyle was also very smooth and gave her a great time to start with. Ashley, who always has a great attitude and tries very hard in practice, completed her first ever 100 butterfly. 2 years ago when she started swimming, Ashley could hardly finish a 50 fly, and last night she muscled her way through a 100 fly - probably the toughest event in the lineup. We're so proud of the swimmers and the progress they've been making so far this season!
