The Red and White meet started our winter season off with a bang! We had some amazing races made by both teams including many swimmers doing personal bests and working on skills that have been shown in practice. Each meet we pick four swimmers as the "swimmers of the meet." These swimmers are picked based on leadership, swimming, and team spirit. This was our first meet of the season, and although it doesn't count as an official meet, too many swimmers to count had amazing races! It was incredibly challenging to pick swimmers of the meet with so many time drops and so much sportsmanship being shown. The swimmers of the Red and White meet are: Chiquita, Mauricio, Izzy, and Joseline.
Two returning Sea Demons earned the title at the meet. Chiquita swam his fastest time at the Red and White meet in the 100 free. He was there cheering on his teammates and helping to make sure that new swimmers knew what to do. He was a huge help to White team! Izzy was also a huge help to the white team, not only by swimming an incredible personal best in her IM, but also by stationing herself at the shallow end making sure to cheer for everyone!
There were two new swimmers who also earned the title. This meet was a first for Joseline and although she was nervous, with the help of her teammates, she swam her first meet and even asked to but put in an extra event! Mauricio also swam a great meet but his flexibility and willingness to help the team is what really stood out. He is an 8 and under but when our 12 and under relay needed a replacement, he was willing to step up and help!
There were many great swims across the board, and many time drops (which is AWESOME for the first meet of the year!). More importantly. we saw excellent sportsmanship and a lot of excitement from all swimmers during the meet. This is going to be an exciting season!
