Our meet this Monday was a success; we beat Bradley Bourbonnais by 3 points! There were a lot of very close races and strong swims from most swimmers. Swimmers of the meet are: Madelaine, Hailey, Chiquita, and Chris.
Madelaine has been working very hard in practice, and her performance on Monday proved that. She dropped 8 seconds on on her 50 freestyle and 13 seconds in her 25 butterfly! Hailey dropped 11 seconds in her 50 freestyle and 3 seconds in her 25 backstroke. Both of them have great attitudes in both meets and practices! Chiquita dropped 24 seconds in his 100 free, and dropped 1 second in his 50 fly, narrowly out-touching his competition for first place! Chris dropped 7 seconds in his 100 free and 17 seconds in his 200IM! Both of these boys have been working incredibly hard in practice and we are so proud of them. Our final meet of the season is next Wednesday at Reavis High School. Please sign up by Monday.

Our meet last night against CSSC was very successful. Over 90% of swimmers swam lifetime best times in at least one event, and many swimmers tried new events! Although there were many great swims across the board, swimmers of the meet are: Ally, DJ, Juan, and Giselle.
Ally had a great race in her 50 free, dropping 3 seconds and placing a close second behind a CSSC swimmer. She also dropped 2 seconds on her 50 breast! Ally was essential to all of the relays she swam for, and was the anchor of the first place 12 and under 200 free relay. As always, Ally was positive, showed strong sportsmanship, and was a great teammate. DJ did not swim best times in his individual events, but his technique was the best we've ever seen and he raced really well in his 50 free and 50 back. He placed second in his 50 free, and first in his 50 back. DJ's attitude at the meet was incredible; he was always cheering for teammates and was very positive. In the first place 12 and under 200 free relay, he did swim his best 50 free time, and was absolutely critical to the success of that relay! Juan has been training up two levels in practice, and it is really paying off. He dropped 4 seconds on his 50 free and managed to swim a 50 butterfly for the first time in his life! We are so proud of the progress he has been making and we love his willingness to challenge himself and never complain. Giselle has been working very hard in practice to become one of the strongest new swimmers on the team. Her hard work paid off last night when she dropped 13 seconds in her 50 free! It is very difficult to drop that much time on such a short race. Giselle also tried the 50 fly for the first time last night, was always ready for her races, and showed good sportsmanship after each of her swims. We, as always, are very proud of our swimmers and are excited to swim against BBSC next Monday! I apologize for the last post! At our meet a few weeks ago, we saw a lot of improvements across the board! However, our swimmers of the meet are: Gabe, Noah, Kennedy, and Gali.
Together, Gabe and Noah dominated the 9-10 boys 50 free. Gabe dropped 3 seconds in his 50 free to win the event overall, and Noah came in a close third after an awesome flipturn! In both the medley and the free relay, these boys were incredibly helpful to their team, and both were always ready for their events and excited to compete. After an unfortunate DQ in the 100 free, Kennedy recovered and dropped 21 seconds in her 100 backstroke! We love to see swimmers persevere, believe in themselves, and succeed the way Kennedy did at that meet! In addition to her swims, her positive attitude is always infectious to her teammates. Gali was a strong anchor to her first place medley relay and her first place free relay. She won the 9-10 girls 50 free by over 3 seconds! She also swam a 100IM for the first time, placing second after Brooke R. Congratulations to all of the Sea Demons on their successes! We look forward to seeing more this Wednesday against CSSC! Our first official meet of the season ended in victory for the Sea Demons. We beat the Mighty Krocs and Oak Forest Swim Association in a fun, close tri-meet. As a team, we had some outstanding swims across all ages and experience levels. Swimmers of the meet are: Madelyn, Brooke, Benj, and Junior.
Madelyn has been training with level 4 this season. It has been a struggle for her to keep up with some of the older and more experienced swimmers, but her hard work has totally paid off! She dropped 11 seconds on her 100 IM yesterday! Brooke had a great performance in both of her relays, and dropped 10 seconds in her 50 butterfly! She has also been working very hard this season, and it is showing in her competitiveness in the pool. Yesterday was Benji's first meet of his life, and he swam incredibly well! His first 100 free was a 1:30 and his first 100 back was a 1:51! Both are impressive times for a beginning swimmer, and are exciting benchmarks for future successes! Jr. was beneficial in both of his relays, dropped 1 second on his 50 freestyle, and won the 50 backstroke by less than a second! His technique has never looked better, and we are so proud of his progress! Congratulations to our entire team on our wins last night, and congratulations to our swimmers of the meet! Our next meet is Monday against the GILLS, please sign up on our standard meet sign up page. For the first time in several seasons, the Red team was victorious at our annual Red and White meet! There were four stand-out role models with great attitudes that were swimmers of the meet: Maglio, Chuy, Jadyn, and Emily.
Maglio was incredibly helpful and independent. He was always ready for his races and helped out the new swimmers tremendously by guiding them to their lanes and helping them read the line-ups. Chuy showed outstanding levels of sportsmanship by always waiting in the water to shake hands with the final swimmer to finish their race. Jadyn requested and raced the 100 butterfly, one of the most challenging races, with a smile on her face. Emily, like always, was incredibly helpful. She was always asking coaches what she can do to help and helped many beginners find their lanes and understand how meets work. All four of these swimmers are returners, and all of them are excellent role models for the beginners. Thanks for a fun meet! |
