WOWZA the meet against Oak Forest was a fun meet for all. All of our swimmers
swam great races and their hard work over the last few months is really starting to pay off! Although all of our swimmers swam a great meet, the swimmers of this meet are Nate, Bobby, Sammy, and Sam. Nate has been really pushing himself at practice, trying to master his stroke technique and it really showed. His backstroke is looking awesome and he dropped some great time in the event! Bobby really stepped it up during the meet, swimming a 50 in the meet during the 200 free relay. Bobby is one of our younger swimmers who up until this point has only swam 25's in meets. Both Sammy and Sam swam awesome meets! Sam has been working really hard at practice and been putting in the extra work each day. This hard work has helped her to drop time in her events and also swim some beautiful races against Oak Forest. Sammy has been on our team for a few seasons and her hard work over the past year have really paid off. She swam one of the best meets of her swimming career, dropping time in all her events and showing serious improvements in her technique.

Woah! What an awesome meet! Everyone that was able to come to the meet against the Mighty Krocs swam great races. So many swimmers have been perfecting their strokes and refining their technique, even when swimming that last few yards of their races. Although all the swimmers did great, the Swimmers of the Meet are: DJ, Madison, Maglio, and Paulina.
This is DJ’s first year swimming with the Sea Demons, and his hard work at practice really shows. This past week we worked to perfect our butterfly, and DJ was able to swim the 50 fly as one of his events for the first time! Madison is also a swimmer that is new to our team this year. She has been really working on her dives, turns, and starts which was apparent at the meet! She simply didn't just drop time in her events, but she also was able to finish all her races as strong as she started them. Maglio has been swimming with the Sea Demons for many seasons and is a great asset to the team. Maglio is a fantastic leader and shares his passion for swimming with our younger/new swimmers. While swimming against the Mighty Krocs, Maglio dropped significant time in his backstroke and showed great sportsmanship by staying in the pool while his teammates and competitors were still swimming. Paulina is also a returner, but has shown tremendous growth in her abilities this season. She dropped time in all her events and was leading cheers at each end of the pool, making sure to support all her teammates. We are so proud of our swimmers, and we are excited to continue this success as we move forward in the season. Not only have we completed our first home meet of the season, but we also saw amazing sportsmanship and time drops from our team! We want to take a moment to really recognize how impressive it is to the coaches to see our swimmers shaking hands with their opponents and staying in the water until everyone has completed their races. Those actions reveal good sportsmanship as well as strong team unity.
The swimmers of the meet are: Corri, Ace, Aylin, and Jose. Corri not only dropped three seconds in her 25 fly, which she has been working on tirelessly in practice, but she also accidentally swam the event twice due to a confusion in the line up. Corri was a real trooper and did her best in both events! Aylin is a new swimmer to EASC, and she dropped an incredible 20 seconds in her 25 free. She has shown significant improvements in her stamina and also her technique over the last month! Ace is one of our new swimmers who has been working tirelessly at practice. His work has really turned into improvements in the pool! During his 100 free, he dropped 7 seconds while also doing flip turns at each well without breathing into any of them! Jose, a new swimmer whose family has been on the team for some time, has been stepping up his game significantly. He dropped time in both of his events because he has been taking the drills we have been doing in practice to heart. By applying his techniques from practice into his races, he has showed incredible growth! We are so proud of our team and look forward to more outstanding swims, continued sportsmanship, and greater improvements as the season progresses. Swimmers of the Meet - Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 - Chiquita, Mauricio, Izzy, and Joseline10/7/2017 The Red and White meet started our winter season off with a bang! We had some amazing races made by both teams including many swimmers doing personal bests and working on skills that have been shown in practice. Each meet we pick four swimmers as the "swimmers of the meet." These swimmers are picked based on leadership, swimming, and team spirit. This was our first meet of the season, and although it doesn't count as an official meet, too many swimmers to count had amazing races! It was incredibly challenging to pick swimmers of the meet with so many time drops and so much sportsmanship being shown. The swimmers of the Red and White meet are: Chiquita, Mauricio, Izzy, and Joseline.
Two returning Sea Demons earned the title at the meet. Chiquita swam his fastest time at the Red and White meet in the 100 free. He was there cheering on his teammates and helping to make sure that new swimmers knew what to do. He was a huge help to White team! Izzy was also a huge help to the white team, not only by swimming an incredible personal best in her IM, but also by stationing herself at the shallow end making sure to cheer for everyone! There were two new swimmers who also earned the title. This meet was a first for Joseline and although she was nervous, with the help of her teammates, she swam her first meet and even asked to but put in an extra event! Mauricio also swam a great meet but his flexibility and willingness to help the team is what really stood out. He is an 8 and under but when our 12 and under relay needed a replacement, he was willing to step up and help! There were many great swims across the board, and many time drops (which is AWESOME for the first meet of the year!). More importantly. we saw excellent sportsmanship and a lot of excitement from all swimmers during the meet. This is going to be an exciting season! This was a great last dual meet of the season! Races were close, relays were fast, and most swimmers dropped time on their events! It was great to see the everyone on the team cheering and showing a lot of sportsmanship at the meet. Our swimmers of the meet are: Liam, Mateo, Esmeralda, and Genevieve.
Liam was a big help when he swam up in both of the 9-10 boys relays! He was very flexible and showed his ability to help the team. He also dropped 1 second to win the 25 backstroke in his age group. Mateo dropped 1 second in his 100 fly, and 25 seconds in his 200 IM! He has been practicing his turns everyday in practice and it really payed off. Esme was an awesome help in both of her relays, and was able to drop 2 seconds to win her 100 backstroke, which is really difficult because she wasn't in a close race with anyone. Genevieve dropped 3 seconds in her 100 free and had a great 100 breast despite her goggles falling off. Gen was a huge help in both of her relays as well! We are so proud of all of our swimmers, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone swim at conference! |
